Where a page was blocked or only a search snippet was visible, the number is marked unverified and kept out of the comparison table. We have not built or load-tested either kit ourselves.

The 6x6 is a film tent with a zipper, not a greenhouse in the sense this site covers, so the rest of the review is about the two polycarbonate kits. The old 6x8 item number 63354 now returns a dead page, and the earlier 47712 and 93358 numbers are the ones most of the classic modification threads were written against. The 72734 listing advertises slide-in panels that "eliminate the need for clips", yet its own manual still lists 28 panel clips at the floor plates, so expect the same clip work at the bottom edge.

## What the Manual Says Before You Open the Box

The manuals for both kits carry the same four lines, and they are the review in miniature:

- "Greenhouse must be properly supported by a foundation prior to assembly to prevent property damage and injury in the event of strong winds."
- "You are responsible to ensure the greenhouse is properly anchored. Harbor Freight Tools cannot be held responsible" for damage from wind.
- "Assemble on a clear, calm day. Wind will damage the Greenhouse and make assembly difficult."
- "If snowfall is expected, place additional supports (not provided) underneath the Crown."

The manual then gives three foundation designs, concrete anchors with a 4x4 lumber frame, a treated wood base, or a slab with a wood sill, and marks the anchors, lumber and gravel "sold separately". Harbor Freight's greenhouse category page lists three greenhouses and a grow light, and nothing else: no base kit, no anchor kit, no replacement panels, no clips. A Reddit buyer in April 2025 put it plainly: "If you plan to get one, just know, step one when you open the box is to build a foundation (parts not included)."

We could not find a priced Harbor Freight base or anchor kit because none exists. On a 6x8 the lumber and hardware commonly land near the kit price itself, which is why the project total is closer to $500 than $250.

## The Owner Modification List, 2007 to 2025

The same six fixes show up across two decades of threads. Newer kits changed the panel channels, so check which item number a thread is describing before copying it.

1. **A raised treated-wood base, anchored.** A 2025 r/Greenhouses owner who built one described the frame as "thinner and less integral than the rim of a soda can". A 2021 owner blog: "I built a base out of pressure treated 2x10s to attach it to." A Houzz veteran recommends 2x12 on edge, which also buys headroom.
2. **Screws or extra clips through the panels.** A New Mexico owner documented in 2007 that clips alone failed in wind and screwed the panels to the frame. In November 2024 an r/harborfreight owner asked for correct-size clips and noted, "I don't see them as a replacement part option from Harbor Freight themselves."
3. **Silicone at every seam.** A Houzz owner in a windy area used clear silicone to hold panels in. One Humboldt County owner reports kits lasting about ten years with every seam caulked and redone every three to four years. The counter-case from the same thread: an owner who caulked the panels after losing them in winter one found that "a storm completely crumpled the greenhouse because it couldn't blow out the panels" the next winter. Sealed panels turn a blown panel into a blown frame, so brace if you seal.
4. **Wind bracing with EMT conduit.** 3/4 inch conduit run wall to wall inside the frame, the fix most long-term 10x12 owners describe.
5. **Interior snow bracing.** From a Houzz 10x12 thread: "Wet, heavy snows can be too much for the HFGH, so folks in snowy areas add additional interior bracing." This matches the manual's own crown-support warning.
6. **A hinged door instead of the slider.** One owner logged an ice-locked track: "nothing moved for 18 hours." Another hangs the door on hinges from the start.

The recurring complaint that no fix cures is panel yellowing. Nothing. Neither manual publishes a wind rating or a snow load, and the product pages do not either. That is the plain reading of the manual's warning that wind will damage the greenhouse. Home Depot search snippets showed the Hybrid near $448 and the Outsunny near $324, but both pages blocked our fetch, so those figures are not in the table. ## Which Buyer Should Get Which

- **You have a sheltered spot and like building things.** Buy the 6x8 on coupon, spend the same again on a treated base, anchors, screws, silicone and conduit, and expect a serviceable greenhouse. The 10x12 is the better buy per square foot if you have the room and want four vents.
- **You are in wind or wet snow country.** Do not buy this unless you will brace it the way the mod threads describe. In the Humboldt thread where this was asked, one owner reported Harbor Freight kits lasting about ten years with every seam caulked and redone every few years, and another lost the whole frame in a storm after sealing the panels without bracing. Longevity tracks the base, the bracing and the site, not the sticker.

The current kits use slide-in channels that bind when the frame is out of square. Owners recommend loosening the adjacent frame bolts, squaring the bay with a tape measure corner to corner, seating the panel, then re-tightening. Do it on a calm day, as the manual insists, because a half-seated panel is the one that leaves first.
